Job Description

Position Overview:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for picking and shipping customer and branch orders. The Shipping Clerk will verify part numbers, description, quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of parts and materials ready for shipment; package kits and parts to company standards by performing the following duties. Work involves attention to detail and working with minimal supervision.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Picks and verifies parts and quantities for accuracy to fill customer and branch orders.
  • Picks and verifies for accuracy parts from bill of material to build kits, package or assemble in accordance with company standards.
  • Packages and processes all customer and branch orders for shipment in accordance with company standards.
  • Prepares all required shipping documents as required.
  • Assigns freight charges to customer orders.
  • Uses forklift and hoist as required.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Skills:
  • Ability to read and differentiate different part numbers.
  • Capable of safely operating a forklift and hoists.
  • Some analytical ability where problems are not difficult or complex.
  • Ability to read and understand procedures and documents applicable to the job.
  • Ability to work good with others using good interpersonal skills,
  • Exceptional communication skills- verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high pressure environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multi-task abilities.
  • Self-managing and self-motivated.

    Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
  • Previous two (2) years shipping experience desired.
  • Previous international shipping a plus.

    Physical Requirements:
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
