AZTEC is currently seeking resumes from qualified Electrical Resident Construction Supervisors for large-scale solar photovoltaic power plants in Posey County, Indiana. These positions are responsible for supervising the EPC contractor’s electrical and mechanical work according to the client’s target for Project Budget-Schedule-Quality for the PV project.

Job Description:

The main tasks under the Construction Monitoring services are as follows:

  • Construction progress monitoring and reporting
  • Construction and materials logistics surveillance
  • QA/QC monitoring during construction
  • Commissioning supervision

These positions carry out daily interaction with EPC contractor’s superintendents, gathering and verifying field information form the EPC contractor regarding construction progress, adherence to engineering plans, and fulfilment of quality control requirements per EPC contract stipulations. The Electrical Resident Construction Supervisor will perform random inspections and evaluate the electrical and mechanical work performed by the contractor, mostly based on field control documentation produced by the EPC contractor. They will also address and resolve construction technical issues and are responsible for reviewing EPC’s contractor performance in this area.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Understand and clarify the responsibilities and guarantees of the contractor.
  • Monitor contractor’s construction work for compliance with contractual requirements and applicable permits, laws, and regulations.
  • Provide QA/QC monitoring services. Perform random quality inspections to ensure contract requirements are met.
  • Perform field engineering as required to support project execution and evaluate engineering solutions/execution alternatives provided by the contractor to specific construction issues.
  • Attend daily POD meetings and other project review meetings and provide support to the Construction Monitoring Manager in overseeing contractor work and resolving issues arising therefrom.
  • Support owner’s project management activities, including review of contractor’s monthly reports and providing information and engineering opinion to perform schedule analysis.
  • Monitor contractor start-up, commissioning, and testing activities to ensure contract requirements are met.
  • Verify that as-built drawings are according to execution.
  • Monitor completion of any punch list items by contractor.
  • Communicate with the AZTEC’s off-site engineering team for those deviations that require specialized technical attention for resolution, collect corresponding reports, and discuss resolution actions with the owner and EPC contractor for implementation.
  • Witness plant sub-system testing (electrical and mechanical), evaluate test conditions per existing testing procedures, and verify the fulfillment of test results per acceptability criteria.
  • Collect, verify, and document all QAQC documentation provided by the EPC contractor.
  • Perform random inspections for verification.
  • Be capable of reviewing the EPC’s design, monitoring construction work progress and resources, and material supplies for all aspects of the solar project.
  • Be able to monitor and audit safety programs.
  • Be qualified in standard software tools (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project, Autocad, Procore).
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of low, medium, and high voltage systems, transmission, overhead lines, and substations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of solar-related experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of construction experience in large renewable energy projects

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Generally uses the advanced knowledge to analyze, interpret, or make deductions from varying facts or circumstances. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
