Job Description
The Rental Manager is responsible for and supervises the Rental Department's employees and inventory. This position works closely with other ASC managers and is responsible for coordinating and managing orders and assigning staff. The role focuses on making our employees the best they can be and maintaining that our service to our customers is maximized. Air Compressor Solutions (ACS) is a full-service distributor for Ingersoll Rand, Doosan Equipment, and other equipment lines. We cover a wide range of tools, air compressors and generator products. This position will consist of installing new equipment at customer locations, general maintenance of equipment at customer locations, troubleshooting and repair of equipment, evaluation of equipment after rental equipment is returned and general repair of equipment at our facility. This position will understand our company values to implement them in their department's daily work.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily workflow, scheduling, and assignments of the Rental Department.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Manage, enforce, and audit our safety procedures and practices in the rental department.
  • Manage, update, and define department goals and reporting structure.
  • Ensure everyone in the Rental department is consistently dedicated to customer service and doing the job right.
  • This position will be responsible for quality in our Rental department.
  • Lead training for all employees in the Rental department to ensure constant employee growth and ensure that everyone has the knowledge to perform at their highest ability.
  • Work with other team leaders to document our processes, evaluate our processes for inefficiencies, and work with employees to ensure quality processes are followed.
  • Be a strong leader and exhibit our company culture by taking care of our employees so they, in turn, can take care of our customers.
  • Review, own, and solve any quality issues that might occur in the Rental processes. Talk to and work with our customers to ensure problems are resolved quickly while considering their position.
  • Work with the Rental department employees and train them when issues occur positively to ensure they are not repeated.
  • Manage the Rental employees' time to ensure work is completed on time and the correct time is charged to the customer.
  • Maintains the inventory, storage, and distribution of equipment and parts.
  • Provides recommendations for purchases of new equipment and parts.
  • Collaborates with other appropriate management staff to prepare and implement budgets.
  • Responsible for keeping parts and warehouse areas organized and the inventory balanced. Parts and spares are staged for work orders.
  • Performs/Track Cycle Counts and write-offs.
  • Maintains a healthy relationship with ASC suppliers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Works with Service dept and third-party vendors to repair rental units.
  • Maintains 85% or plus utilization on rental fleet.
  • Adjusts rental fleet inventory as needed.
  • Keeping within the parameters of the allocated ACS budget.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Five years of experience managing Rental processes.
  • Experience with customer service and a clear demonstration of seeing their work from the customer's perspective.
  • Experience with basic safety practices, equipment, and protocols.
  • Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience managing the company's type of facilities, parts, and equipment preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making skills with the ability to "think on your feet."
  • Ability to think through, learn, and solve new, unique problems or issues.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with fellow employees and customers.
  • Strong phone presence and ability to work and solve customer issues over the phone.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate fully with co-workers, vendors, and customers.
  • Working knowledge of vendor's warranty, service, and document libraries to find and update files and training.
  • Ability to train in both a hands-on and formal training environment and a virtual environment.
  • Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn the equipment, parts, and facilities to be maintained.
  • Ability to maintain essential records and warranties.
  • Ability to understand written directions in manuals and manufacturer websites.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as required to complete and maintain records.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, lifting, and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to relocate up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities.
  • Must be able to access all parts of the company equipment and parts.
