Job Purpose:

System Safety Engineer will interface to the stake holders of the project, decompose requirements and define system safety mechanisms, facilitate meeting for DFMEA, FTA, DFA and FMEDA Analysis. The system safety engineer will also create stakeholder deliverables pertaining to safety. The system safety engineer has knowledge of the whole system and all of its safety components.

Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):

  • Participate in project development team meetings
  • Lead technical safety discussions with the project stakeholders
  • Create system safety architectures and requriements
  • Adhere to standards such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, and IATF 16949
  • Prepare materials for technical discussions with Halla Mechatronics management as well as customers
  • Facilitate and create system safety design, requirements, and test documentation
  • Facilitate DFMEA, PFMEA, FTA, FMEDA, and DFA
  • Review and approve verification plans, specs and results for safety requirements
  • Technical Leadership and mentoring for new hires
  • Lead safety assessments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in an engineering role
  • Experience in Industry standards – ISO 26262
  • Experience with creating functional and technical safety concepts
  • Worked on a product that had ASIL C or ASIL D safety rating
  • Ability to work on tasks independently with minimal support from others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 8+ years’ experience in in an engineering role
  • Experience with automotive chassis control systems
  • Understanding of vehicle dynamics
  • Knowledge of SysML and Medini Analyize tool
  • Experience with requirement management tools such as PTC Integrity, DOORS
  • Participated in or lead a 3rd party assessment on ISO 26262 for a ASIL C or ASIL D product
  • Experience in project technical leadership role

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Proficiency in Mathworks products, System Composer, Simulink, Matlab
  • Preferred Experience in automotive embedded systems development
  • Knowledge of SysML

  • Ability to identify problems, analytic/problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across all levels and functions
