Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, kind, and talented cook to join our team. We truly believe that good food is a key part of providing good care and a great experience for our residents, their families, and our staff. We are committed to producing as much as we can from scratch in our kitchen in order to elevate the dining experience for those we serve.

Responsible for assisting and preparing food for the residents and assisting any residents that need help with their meals. The cook works in conjunction with the dietary manager to prepare meals. The cook will also assists in clean up, kitchen maintenance, and setting up and taking down the dining areas. Other job duties include delivering food to residents' rooms, preparing and serving snacks and taking inventory of food and kitchen supplies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner under the direction of the executive chef.
  • Maintaining kitchen sanitation and safety standards under the direction of the Dining Services Coordinator
  • Prepares and cooks meals for residents within an assisted living and Memory Care community as well as maintain standards of kitchen cleanliness
  • Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules
  • Report any concerns with the health and well-being to the Resident Care Coordinator or Nurse
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
  • Meet or exceed, the standards of appearance; comply with the sanitation rules, hygiene and health standards of community personnel
  • Serve meals in a fine and gracious manner, ensuring the dignity and nutritional needs of the residents
  • Assist with putting away and organizing the weekly orders
  • Keep the kitchen organized and orderly
  • Insure that the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area meets or exceeds the dietary manager's specifications and is in compliance with state regulations
  • Cooks meal according to the dietician approved menus
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Job Qualifications:

  • Comfortable cooking and baking from scratch as almost 90% of our menu is comprised of scratch recipes!
  • Must possess a current Food Handler's Permit
  • Have the ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisors, and associates
  • Must provide written proof of recent TB test or obtain within two weeks of date of hire
  • Must be positive and deliver a WOW experience through service
  • Performs unpleasant tasks with grace; works cooperatively with supervisors and displays willingness to assist co-workers
  • Willingness to work with the elderly

Universal Precautions:
Exposure to blood/bodily fluids is unlikely but possible.

Physical Requirements:
Has ability to do occasional heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs.)
