JOB DESCRIPTION

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the integrity of the accounting records; the processing of all disbursements, including payroll; the maintenance and enhancement of accounting/financial policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls; HR support including benefit administration; and other financial and human resource functions as assigned. The CFO will be the Accountant’s immediate supervisor.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Daily accounting functions including covering for staff absences and vacancies when needed.
  • Accounts Payable Data Entry and Processing
  • Payroll and benefits administration.
  • Recruiting support including onboarding and new hire documents.
  • General Ledger review and reconciliation
  • Project administration
  • Review of contracts for project design services
  • Supervise all financial administration personnel
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proficiency with benefit administration
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 3-5 years experience in accounting and payroll
  • Benefit administration experience preferred.
  • Computer experience and Microsoft Office experience required
  • Previous project management experience preferred
  • Ability to travel (occasionally) as we support offices throughout the state
  • Valid driver's license required
