Job Title: Freight Handler

Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Freight Handler to join our logistics team. The Freight Handler will be responsible for efficiently and safely loading, unloading, and sorting freight shipments in our warehouse or distribution center. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
1. Safely and efficiently load and unload freight shipments from trucks and trailers using manual or powered equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
2. Verify freight against shipping documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3. Sort and stage freight for storage or distribution according to destination and delivery schedule.
4. Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) or other software to track and update shipment status and inventory levels.
5. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including keeping aisles clear and free of obstructions.
6. Follow all safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries, including proper lifting techniques and equipment operation.
7. Assist in the inspection and maintenance of warehouse equipment and report any malfunctions or damage to management.
8. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and truck drivers to coordinate freight handling activities and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
9. Participate in periodic inventory counts and audits as required.
10. Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding quality, safety, and security.

Requirements:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or freight handling preferred.
3. Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and effectively (certification may be required).
4. Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects repeatedly (up to 50 pounds or more).
5. Attention to detail and accuracy in verifying and recording shipment information.
6. Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
7. Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
8. Basic computer skills and familiarity with warehouse management systems or inventory software is a plus.
9. Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
