Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our finance team as a Research Accountant. This role will primarily focus on supporting the financial reporting for our portfolio of contracts and grants. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and excellent analytical and communication skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Administration: Assist in the financial management for contracts and grants, including expenditure tracking and financial reporting.

  • Grant Compliance: Ensure compliance with grant regulations, terms, and conditions by maintaining accurate records and documentation.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to develop project budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance.

  • Audit Support: Assist in audit preparation and provide necessary documentation and support during audits.

  • Communication: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including researchers, project managers, and finance team members, to provide financial updates and resolve any issues or discrepancies.

  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or

- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a non-profit or research environment.

- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).

- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with grant accounting and compliance regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance).

- Experience with federal or state grant reporting requirements.
