Who will you be working with?

Vapor Stone Rail Systems is a part of WABTEC Corp and has been in Plattsburgh NY since 1998. We offer a wide range of products and services for trains including HVAC units, Doors, Door systems along with an array of aftermarket parts and services.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the team at Vapor Stone Rail Systems, you will be responsible for performing various job duties including welding and assembling. This position is responsible for his/her own quality of work and must meet company and ISO standards.

• Must have basic understanding of electrical test equipment (megger, hi-pot, multi-meter, etc...)

What do we want to know about you?

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates should have knowledge of welding along with mechanical/ electrical assembly techniques. You should also have basic computer skills including Microsoft office.

EDUCATION:

• High School graduate, or general education degree and two years of experience with GTAW and GMAW processes.

EXPERIENCE:

• Three years minimum industry experience in manufacturing or transportation and/or training.
• Possess basic math skills, and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Welder must be able to pass two welder qualification tests per AWS D1.1: Fillet T-joint in the Horizontal and Vertical Up Position using GMAW process and Fillet T-Joint in the Flat position and vertical up using GTAW Process. Test will be administered at Vapor Stone Rail Systems.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.
• Ability to respond positively to feedback and implement change in process and procedures as needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to use hand and pneumatic tools.
• Must be able to read electrical schematics.
• Must be able to read pneumatic diagrams.
• Ability to crimp, perform soldering procedures, assemble wire harnesses, etc.

What will your typical day look like?

• Working with team or self in our assembly areas. This could include line work or assembly work in a group setting.

What about the physical demands of the job?

• Standing, bending, twisting for 8 hours per day
• Ability to lift & move 40lbs.
• Wearing PPE including but not limited to hearing protection, hard hat, bump cap cut resistant gloves at various times based on current project.
• Safety glasses & steel/composite toe shoes are required for entirety of shift.
• Must successfully pass initial and random drug screenings.
• May require step stools or ladders.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role starts at $20-$22 per hour. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location.
