We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team in South Carolina. The Certified Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in providing direct patient care and assisting healthcare providers in delivering efficient and comprehensive medical services to our patients. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and dedicated to providing compassionate care to individuals of all ages.
Responsibilities:
- Perform administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and verifying insurance information.
- Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed.
- Obtain and record patient vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints accurately.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and medical equipment, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and proper functioning.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as blood draws, urinalysis, and specimen collection, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and immunizations under the direction of healthcare providers and according to established policies and procedures.
- Provide patient education and instruction on medication usage, home care procedures, and preventive health measures.
- Assist with medical procedures, including wound care, suture removal, and EKGs, as needed.
- Document patient information, assessments, and treatments accurately and promptly in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and other medical staff, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from a recognized certifying organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
- Prior experience working as a medical assistant in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, basic clinical procedures, and computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
