What You'll Do:

Come work for a rapidly-growing company as a Human Resources (HR) Generalist Intern, where you will work side-by-side with HR Leadership, benefit from hands-on training, and experience an outstanding company culture that promotes a vibrant and collaborative work environment. 


Working in conjunction with HR Leadership, the HR Generalist Intern will have the opportunity to learn about the company from the ground up while developing a diverse range of skills within the employee life cycle from recruitment to retirement.  You will learn how to effectively deal with a variety of situations, find appropriate solutions, and acquire relevant work experience. With this internship, you will learn how to apply a wide range of your new competencies into real business environments while acquiring effective time and people management skills. You will be a team player in recruitment efforts at the Reno Operations Center (ROC), provide support with relevant HR administrative functions, while fostering a positive employee experience.

 

You will play a role in HR programs, processes, and projects, including recruitment, benefits, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), compensation, employee training and development, employee relations, research, analysis, as well as provide support to our teams related to Human Resources activities.


Challenge Yourself - The Specifics:

Recruitment

  • Post job openings
  • Review resumes for job openings
  • Contact ROC candidates and prescreen (via phone) for employment
  • Schedule candidates for interviews with ROC Management
  • Produce new hire documentation and initiate on-boarding process
  • Participate in on-boarding presentation to learn more about the process and offer suggestions for improvement and potentially offer the presentation


Employee Training

  • Audit training records for ROC employees to include Safety documents
  • Support Safety Training by developing monthly calendar of events
  • Work inter-departmentally to develop a Product Life Cycle of Elemental LED
  • Support continued implementation of Open LMS (Learning Management System) and other systems


Administrative

  • Participate in ROC departmental meetings
  • Support insurance-related processes to include workers’ compensation, disability, health, dental and vision carriers, and COBRA
  • Provide support to BambooHR (HRIS) audit
  • Review I9’s and support ongoing audit and record retention


The Ideal Candidate:

  • High school graduate; enrolled in higher education
  • Ability to respond to and effectively prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines
  • Operate modern office equipment including computer equipment and specialized software application programs, including HRIS
  • Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing
  • Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural, and legal guidelines
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality
