BASIC SUMMARY:

Provide an exceptional dining experience to members/guests by serving food and beverage items in a professional, friendly manner while following the proper rules of etiquette and the company’s high standards of customer service.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cordially greet members/guests by name if known; distribute menus.
  • Take beverage orders, provide orders to Bartender, and garnish drinks as appropriate.
  • Display salesmanship and hospitality by having a full knowledge of menus and specials, including portion sizes, ingredients and cooking methods; answers questions, offers suggestions.
  • Know the wine list and make recommendations for wine and food pairings when asked.
  • Take menu orders, provide orders to kitchen, and inform kitchen staff of any special requests.
  • Check back with members/guests during the meal to ensure satisfaction.
  • Suggest and serve dessert, coffee and after-dinner drinks.
  • Verify accuracy of all state and federal taxes, tips, and other charges on the check; presents check to members/guests.
  • Handle all cash and credit cards as applicable. Assess charges to members’ accounts as applicable.
  • Keep tables, dining room and service stations immaculate.
  • Advise manager of any complaints as they occur.
  • Perform cleanup and closing duties as assigned.
  • Attend daily line-ups as requested.
  • Follow daily cash drop procedures.
  • Consistently comply with all federal, state, local and company laws, policies and procedures relating to the service of alcohol.
  • Communicate and demonstrate company Hospitality Values to guests and staff at all times.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Two-year previous experience in food industry preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients and other associates of the organization.
  • Listen effectively; speak, read and write fluently in English.
  • Responsible Vendor and Food Handler Certificates.
  • Work well under pressure and handle difficult situations.
  • Highly proficient at managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work.
  • Committed to team work and able to work with little to no supervision.
  • Exemplary customer service and hospitality skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deal with guests in a professional manner with patience, tact and diplomacy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITY TO:

  • Grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 50 lbs.
  • Push/pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Stand and walk for length of scheduled shift.
  • Reach with hands and arms, bend stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Perform duties of the job while exposed to sun and hot weather conditions for prolonged periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned through visual acuity.
  • Express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly.
  • Perceive the nature of sounds at a normal speaking level and make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Withstand a moderate noise level.
