Job Title: Aircraft Mechanic - Avionics

Location: Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, NV

Job Descriptions:

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic - Avionics to join our team to provide Aircraft Maintenance and Logistics Support to the United States Navy (USN) Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) at Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, NV. The successful candidate will perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot level maintenance on various aircraft, components, and equipment. They will apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems, provide technical guidance, and ensure the highest standards of aircraft maintenance and safety. This position requires expertise in avionics systems, effective communication skills, and the ability to thrive in diverse work environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform organizational, intermediate, and limited depot level maintenance tasks including inspection, operational testing, repair, modification, and troubleshooting on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to avionics/electrical systems, communication/navigation systems, electronic flight controls, and other aircraft subsystems.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of weapons systems, including RADAR systems, Electronic Counter Measure, ATFLIR, and other specialized equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and effective communication skills during aircrew debriefings to ensure thorough understanding and resolution of issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, planning documents, test specifications, and safety manuals to ensure compliance with maintenance procedures and standards.
  • Perform tasks in various environments including hangars, shops, flight lines, and potentially off-site locations, adapting to different physical movements and postures associated with aircraft maintenance activities.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds and demonstrate special vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working in environments where high noise hazards, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock hazards may prevail.
  • Maintain qualifications, certifications, and licensing required by the company and government agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years' experience within the last eight years in aircraft maintenance, with the last two years in the military or with a government aviation maintenance contractor.
  • Experience with F/18, E-2, or H-60 aircraft maintenance.
  • Proficiency in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required qualifications, certifications, licensing, or clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C, MH-60S, or F-16 A&B aircraft preferred.
  • High degree of expertise in aircraft systems, avionics theory, and applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systems.
  • Thorough working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention, and treatment.
  • Customer-oriented approach to maintenance services.

Licensing and Certification Requirements:

  • Formal/Specialized Training or Equivalent.
  • Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Trained.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Program Awareness.
  • ISO 9001-2000 Program Awareness.
  • NALCOMIS Trained.
  • ESD Trained.
  • Support Equipment Operator's License.
  • Collateral Duty Inspector.
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Non-Nuclear Ordnance Explosive Handling Certified.
  • Plane Captain Qualified.
