Department: Outpatient/Emergency Room

Reports To: Emergency Room Coordiantor
Status: 60-80 hours per two week pay period
Shift: 8 hours
Job Schedule: 30-40 hours per week
Remote Position: No

Job Summary

The Outpatient Staff Nurse provides direct nursing care for individual patients with well-defined nursing diagnoses during the outpatient experience. The Outpatient Staff Nurse communicates with the patient and on behalf of the patient to coordinate care with health team members. The Outpatient Staff Nurse organizes those aspects of nursing care for which s/he is accountable in a specified work period.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in South Dakota.
  • A minimum of two years clinical experience preferred. Following a formal orientation, proficiency is expected within six months. ACLS completed within six months of completion of probationary period. Management of Aggressive Behavior completed within 12 months of completion of probationary period. Chemotherapy classes completed within six months of completion of probationary period.
  • Following a formal orientation, proficiency in the assigned clinical area is expected within six months.
  • Cross training is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, feeling, talking, hearing and moderate (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly) lifting of clients and equipment.
  • Risks exposure to communicable or infectious disease.
  • Failure to comply with standards of nursing care of HRMC may result in consequences to continued employment.
