RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Medical Director is a physician who is responsible for overseeing the medical and administrative responsibilities for the quality of medical care for El Centro Family Health. The medical director works with the Chief Clinical Officer and medical management to follow the ECFH mission of accessible, quality, and affordable primary medical care services. The medical director works under the supervision of the Chief Clinical Officer.

The Medical Director combines leadership, administrative and clinical functions. The position is 60% administrative and 40% clinical. The clinical portion of the job is described separately.

The administrative portion of the position includes the following: Member of the Quality Committee. Membership of Medical Management and Clinical Directors. Attends Nursing Meetings.

In addition, the Medical Director has supervisory authority, including the ability to evaluate performances and implement disciplinary measures.

The Medical Director is responsible for APR's (Annual Performance Reviews) for medical managers and any physicians in areas not having a physician medical manager.

The Medical Director offers input on scheduling if needed and on hiring and termination of employment for medical providers.

The Medical Director is responsible for communicating decisions made by Medical Management to providers or to the organization as a whole, either themselves or delegating it. This includes information updates and implementation of procedures.


Education: Board certification as a primary care physician, with family medicine being strongly preferred. Licensure to practice medicine in New Mexico is required. Licensure must be kept current, full, and unrestricted.


Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in a leadership position in the medical profession. Experience in primary care, rural health care, and/or FQHC preferred
