CDL Driller Assistant | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Perform strenuous physical labor associated with drilling activities, such as rig operation, soil/groundwater sample collection, waste removal, and other remediation services.
  • Follow applicable safety rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and site-specific safety plans when performing cleanup activities and donning protective gear.
  • Be knowledgeable and follow DOT laws and regulations regarding driving a CDL Class A combination vehicle/trailer.
  • Assist with operation of various drilling rigs (Geoprobes, Air Rotary, Sonic).
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on drilling rigs and equipment.
  • Complete and submit paperwork in a detailed and timely manner; including work/equipment logs, drilling records and logs, time records, maintenance.
  • Safely perform manual labor at various locations throughout the United States.
  • Operate a motor vehicle.
  • Operate hand tools, light machinery, and sharp tools.
  • Responsible for responding to emergency response locations with limited notice.
  • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established OSHA requirements.
  • Required to follow safety standards. Required to wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

CDL Driller Assistant | COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be literate with the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and posted schedules.
  • Knowledge of the care, proper use, and ability to perform light maintenance on the tools, motor vehicles, and equipment provided.
  • Must not be afraid of heights and confined spaces.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
  • Familiarity Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPPER).
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair issues related to small diesel engines and hydraulic power systems.
  • Must be able to interpret and follow written and oral instructions and assignments.
  • General knowledge of computers, for basic time and project entry purposes.
  • Must demonstrate general knowledge of operations and ability to safely operate assigned equipment.
  • Ability to work as a team and learn new skills.
  • Knowledge of drilling technology/methods (direct push, auger, air and mud rotary, sonic).

CDL Driller Assistant | POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • This is a full-time position and will travel via company vehicle up to 10 days at a time. Work will include out of state travel and extended stays. Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays is required with this position.

CDL Driller Assistant | REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Class A CDL required.

CDL Driller Assistant | PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years of general labor or construction experience preferred.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred.
  • Kansas and/or Missouri Well Driller License/Apprenticeship (or willingness to acquire apprenticeship immediately after hire).
  • Three (3) years’ working experience with dpt, auger, air and/or Sonic drilling method preferred.

CDL Driller Assistant | OTHER DUTIES:

  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed mostly in an uncontrolled atmosphere. Exposure to harsh conditions such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures for long periods of time is possible. This employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of HAZWOPER and OSHA regulations and requirements. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. Ability to regularly lift and carry 50 pounds. Sitting 10%, standing/walking 90%.
