Salary:
JOB DESCRIPTION: SWAMPER/FIELD TECH
The Swamper/Field Tech is a general labor position for a hydro excavation crew. The Swamper/Field Tech assists the Operator with the operation of the Hydrovac performing excavation, pressure washing, potholing, trenching, daylighting, confined space entry and any other functions performed. The Swamper/Field Tech reports directly to the Operator.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain Hydrovacs and all attached equipment in a professional and orderly manner.
- Ensure all required safety equipment is in working order and in the truck prior to dispatch.
- Each Swamper/Field Tech is issued a multi-gas monitor and is responsible for having it with them and in working order at all times.
- Use proper loading and unloading procedures.
- Assist drivers with pre/post trip inspections.
- Follow good housekeeping practices on all job sites.
- Adhere to industry standards and follow company policies regarding dress code and proper PPE.
- All other duties requested by the Driver/Operator or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Knowledge of oilfield related tools and equipment
- Must be able to read and write the English language
- Ability to follow directions and be part of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education
- CPR and First Aid Certified
- Confined Space Certified Entrant/Attendant
TRAINING:
- PEC Safeland
- H2S Clear
- Fit Test
- Strength and agility test
- One Basin/One Way
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to shovel and move/load/unload/work with 2” – 12” hoses.
- Position requires long periods of standing, shoveling, climbing up and down stairs repeatedly and the ability to work long hours if necessary.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS:
- Work will be performed outdoors in ALL weather conditions including sub-zero temperatures.
- Potential hazards include working near or with heavy tools and moving machinery and exposure to chemicals and loud noises.
