Title: Computer Aided Design (CAD) Administrator

Department: MFE

Reports to: Manager Engineering

Location: Onsite, Hillsboro, OR

As the CAD Administrator, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of computer-aided design systems, processes, and design tools (specifically with respect to SolidWorks and Product Data Management (PDM) professional). You will oversee CAD software and hardware, providing technical support to CAD users, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline design workflows.

You will ensure downloaded CAD models for purchased components are appropriately defeatured, cataloged and optimized for use in larger assemblies. PDM workflow creation and maintenance including development of automated tasks and notifications are required. The CAD Administrator will also create advanced scripting for PDM tasks. HTML programming a plus. Occasional 3D modeling and drawing checks to help support the design team when needed may also be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that PDM workflow, CAD workstations, and hardware are up to date, functional, and well- maintained.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to CAD users, assist with software-related problems, and enhance users’ efficiency.

  • Assist in creating user profiles and permissions and upholding CAD standards and best practices for the organization.

  • Collaborate with IT to implement or ensure network compatibility and data security as well as proper use of data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard design ?les.

  • Collaborate with operations group and engineering teams to integrate and align design team deliverables and formats with current and future operational needs.

  • Make recommendations for software upgrades or replacements based on business needs and practical software functionality.

  • Evaluate overall performance of large SolidWorks assemblies. Identify inefficient common components and optimize for use in future designs.

  • Consolidate and streamline Auto CAD drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) creation for electrical design team.

Skills Integral to the Job:

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data integrity.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for user support and training.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, PDM professional, and AutoCAD software.

  • Knowledge of CAD data management and ?le storage best practices.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in CAD administration or a related role.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology) or equivalent work experience.

  • Familiarity with software licensing and asset management.

  • Experience in evaluating and implementing CAD software solutions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, or walking.

  • Work conditions may include areas of restricted movement, air contamination, intense noise and hazardous materials.

  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 35 pounds at once.
