The Fire Protection Sprinkler System Technician position is responsible for the Installation and/or Maintenance and Repair of water-based fire protection systems.

Job Duties

• Cut, Thread, and Groove Steel Pipe
• Cut, Glue, Join CPVC pipe
• Ability to use basic hand tools, specialty pipe tools, electric tools, battery powered tools, gas powered saws
• Ability to repair and install underground piping and above ground piping
• Ability to read blueprints and recognize construction obstructions and conflicts
• Knowledge of NFPA 13 hanging and bracing rules as well sprinkler placement rules
• Ability to install and troubleshoot fire pump and fire pump controllers
• Clearly communicate any system impairments discovered directly with customer
• Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on requirements and general status of job

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 3 years experience working with Fire Sprinkler systems
• Familiarity with NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, 24
• Familiarity with NFPA 25 a plus
• Knowledge of Fire Sprinkler Components
• Proficient in the use of computers and smart phones, specifically Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple iOS, and Google Android
• Strong verbal and written communications skills required
• Organized, motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record

Compensation: $25 - $33/hour

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
