Electrical Maintenance Technician - Veneer Mill

Besse Forest Products Group, headquartered in Gladstone, MI, is one of the leading producers of hardwood lumber, veneer, and plywood in North America. Operations include four sawmills, lumber concentration yard, three veneer mills, one industrial plywood plant, and employs over 350 personnel.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems in our industrial facility. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in electrical maintenance and is skilled in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems, including inspecting, testing, and cleaning equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components and wiring to restore proper function.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and engineers to identify opportunities for process improvements and equipment upgrades.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance performed, including inspections, repairs, and parts used.
- Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in electrical maintenance techniques.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in electrical maintenance preferred.
- Proven experience as an Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components used in industrial settings.
- Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and motor controls.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in an industrial environment.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
- Comfortable working at heights and in tight spaces.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods of time.
