Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Nursing to join our team at Catalina Island Health. As the Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for leading our nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and maintaining compliance with all regulations and standards.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide administrative support to all personnel which report to this position.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to maintian compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and mentor nursing staff, encouraging professional growth and development.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to improve overall patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze nursing department performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Manage the nursing department budget and ensure efficient allocation of resources.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and senior management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of nursing that optimize patient care.
  • Thorough knowledge of acute care hospital policies, procedures and routines.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, and policies related to nursing, ancillary clinical services, and hospital administration.
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems related to patient care services management.
  • Knowledge and operation of computer-based systems
  • Knowledge of Title 22, OBRA Regulations, Health and Safety Code, Cal OSHA Regulations and legislation regarding impact on personnel departments and health care institutions in general.
  • Can lead teams of varying size and levels of aptitude.
  • Stong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of one year experience in nursing management as a director or assistant director in acute or SNF hospital setting with completion of some nursing administrative duties.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Masters in related field preferred.
  • Experience in a critical access hospital in a senior management position preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • CPR, ACLS, PALS (or willingness to obtain within six months of hire)
