A local manufacturer of steel structures is seeking a Maintenance Mechanical Technician for its West Fargo, ND location.

Job Summary

The MMT is responsible for keeping the plant equipment running by troubleshooting problems and making necessary repairs. Performs adjustments and preventive maintenance on equipment to maintain performance standards and production efficiency to minimize down time.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and repairs production equipment which are down due to mechanical or performance problems. Work includes repairing or replacing bearings, seals, sprockets, chains, belts, valves, and packings, conducts preventative maintenance, lubrication, and adjustment of machines and equipment; and a few electrical items such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses and electrical motors

* Maintains facility equipment. Updates maintenance logs and activity reports
* Troubleshoots machine problems when required
* May use shop tools such as cutting and welding equipment, drill presses, taps, dies, grinding equipment, lathes and hand tools to repair or fabricate existing or replacement parts
* May operate welders, band saws, lathes, and drill presses. Requires occasional changes in tasks with different technologies
* Precision work requiring adherence to and achieving exact tolerances when adjusting machines to meet production and efficiency standards
* Work involves making judgments and solving problems, such as when troubleshooting and when deciding whether to repair or replace a part
* Read and comprehend technical manual and equipment related documentation

Education and Certification

* High School Diploma, or GED Certification, a combination of Vo-Tech education and job experience preferred
* Has a broad knowledge of machining, mechanics, hydraulics; understand the machinery and processes for the facility; and the ability to work with the intricate and delicate equipment.
* Mastery in repairing most machines and equipment
