Overview:

As a successful intern, you will be responsible for assisting with the operations side of high school softball spring training and weekend tournaments at the Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge, TN. This is a paid Internship. Internship Dates: February 2024 - May 2024.

Responsibilities:

As a Spring Tournament Operations Intern, you will:

  • Serve as a Tournament Official, maintaining a working knowledge of rules and procedures, announcing games and operating scoreboards for high school softball games
  • Assist with managing game/practice schedule, creating welcome packets for each team
  • Assist with rosters, welcome packets, and paperwork before each weekend tournament
  • Serve as a customer service representative to the coaches. Answers questions as they pertain to their particular tournament.
  • Work directly with front office personnel in order to successfully execute high school softball spring training program and weekend tournaments
  • Perform basic grounds crew duties such as field work and filling water coolers
  • Basic cleaning duties which include but are not limited to; sweeping, mopping, cleaning & stocking restrooms, cleaning windows and picking up trash
  • Convey and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times while providing extraordinary external and internal customer service
  • Absorb training and demonstrate the initiative, desire, and drive to help uphold the values established by the Ripken name and brand
  • Work with staff to achieve objectives effectively and efficiently while providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for participants


Required Experience

We require:

  • College student majoring in sport management or related field
  • Prior work experience in customer service environment
  • An outgoing, friendly personality and excellent communication skills, strong initiative, and high-energy
  • Strong detail-orientation, with ability to problem-solve
  • Good time-management skills
  • Ability to work from early March – early May.
  • Work Schedule will vary; nights and weekends will be required based on business needs.
  • A passion for sports

Special Physical Requirements of the Job/Working Conditions: You may be required to lift up to 70 lbs., may be exposed to dust/dirt at the complex, and may be exposed to extreme hot temperatures.
