An old world hideaway in the heart of Palm Springs, Avalon is a desert oasis tucked into the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains. With 70 Spanish-style lodgings, including romantic studios and 13 private villas; 3 cabana-lined pools; the acclaimed Chi Chi restaurant; and the restorative Estrella Spa, it’s no secret while Avalon’s sun-kissed, lush, citrus tree-lined grounds have been a Hollywood playground since the 1930s.


Job Overview:

As a Hotel Restaurant Service Assistant, you play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for guests. In addition to the existing responsibilities outlined in the job overview, your role will encompass the following functions:

Additional Functions:

  1. Assist with Food Preparation: Support kitchen staff by assisting with basic food preparation tasks, such as slicing bread, portioning condiments, or garnishing dishes, to expedite service and maintain quality standards.
  2. Guest Engagement: Engage with guests in a friendly and attentive manner, providing assistance with menu selections, answering questions about dishes, and accommodating special requests to enhance the overall dining experience.
  3. Beverage Service: Assist with beverage service by refilling water glasses, delivering non-alcoholic beverages to tables, and assisting bartenders with preparing and serving drinks, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  4. Tableside Assistance: Provide tableside assistance to guests, including refilling condiments, replacing utensils, and addressing any additional needs or requests promptly and courteously.
  5. Assist with Special Events: Support restaurant staff during special events or private dining functions by assisting with set-up, service, and cleanup tasks, ensuring that guest needs are met and exceeded.
  6. Maintain Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the dining area, including wiping down tables, chairs, and countertops, and promptly clearing away used dishes and utensils to ensure a clean and inviting environment for guests.
  7. Monitor Supplies: Monitor and replenish supplies at service stations, including condiments, napkins, and utensils, to ensure smooth and efficient service during peak dining hours.
  8. Assist with Administrative Tasks: Assist restaurant management with administrative tasks, such as updating reservation lists, printing menus, or organizing seating arrangements, to support efficient operations.
  9. Handle Guest Feedback: Handle guest feedback and inquiries professionally and promptly, addressing any concerns or complaints with a positive attitude and seeking resolution to ensure guest satisfaction.
  10. Continuous Learning: Actively participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in food and beverage service, hospitality standards, and guest relations.

Qualifications and Education:

In addition to the qualifications and education requirements stated in the original job description, candidates for this role should ideally possess:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a restaurant, café, or hotel environment, demonstrating a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.
