Industrial Painter

Job Summary:

Performance Fab painter is responsible for applying primer and paint finishes to various metal, steel, and miscellaneous building components and fabrications. These will vary based on each customer and product.   

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prep material for industrial priming/painting including pressure washing, sanding, washing, taping off, priming, painting, and drying of product.
• Unload deliveries and transport to correct storing location.
• Responsible for loading and unloading fabrications to and from Paint Bay, ensuring safety of all involved.
• Plan details of work order procedures; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and work area.
• Communicate with Performance Fab Foreman or Supervisor of upcoming orders to be painted.
• Quality check/control of fabricated materials.
• Notify Performance Fab Supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
• Occasional onsite priming/painting is required.
• Perform tasks safely and do not attempt to complete a task without the proper training.
• Be aware of, understand, and follow Performance Fab safety culture, particularly the use of hardhats, safety glasses, ear plugs, dust masks, face shields, gloves, respirators, reflective clothing, assigned harnesses, and other PPE as needed.
• Inspect safety equipment and personal protective equipment prior to use.
• Know the location of first aid kit, fire extinguisher, MSDS, egress routes and emergency information when reporting to jobsite.
• Attend and participate in all required safety training and toolbox talks.
• Follow all company and customer policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Perform job in a professional manner (appearance, language, behavior).

• Perform any other duties as assigned.

 Required Skills/Abilities:

• Driver’s license Class D required, CDL A is a plus.
• Ability to have flexible hours and willingness to travel when required.
• Thorough understanding of painting materials and tools including paint gun, sprayer, and set-up materials.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow all policy and procedures as set forth by Performance Fab and their customers, take pride in servicing the customer, and have a strong commitment to safety.
• Ability to communicate with basic understanding of the English language.

Education and Experience:

• Welding, drilling, and light fabrication experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience painting a variety of surface types is required.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Industrial painting experience is required.
• High school diploma preferred.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Have the ability to see details at close range, climb and ascend stairs, ladders, and into equipment as needed.

• Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate and move heavy equipment.
• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times, walk on uneven, wet, slippery, or grainy surfaces, and to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures as well as in rain or snow types of conditions as needed.
