Job Title: QA/QC Specialist

Status: Full-Time

 

Position Overview

Under limited supervision, performs Federal Acquisitions Regulations System (FAR) based construction subcontracts job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities include, but not limited to, communications with subcontractors, creation, administration, management and closeout of FAR based construction subcontracts and compliance. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas:

  • Use probe and laser type computer measuring equipment & hand tool M&TE
  • Design and implement testing plans for products
  • Use procedures for the quality control of products and services
  • Perform welding inspections and various nondestructive tests and inspections
  • Report inspection and test results to management
  • Implement corrective actions to resolve product issues and track progress
  • Ensure that the final product satisfies the product requirements and meet end-user expectations
  • Spot areas for improvement to enhance the product's efficiency
  • Research the current market for similar products and compare results
  • Perform high quality-level receipt inspections to ensure material traceability
  • Perform supplier evaluations for placement/retention on the Approved Suppliers List

 

Working Conditions

Work in an office at an indoor manufacturing facility. May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.

Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.

Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage.

 

Required Experience

Associates degree in a related field and 2-4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typical experience ranges from 2-6 years.

 

Required Skills

  • Experience using precision measuring tools (computer assisted and hand tools)
  • Experience with inspecting welds (visual and/or other forms of nondestructive inspections or testing)
  • Ability to read and understand procedures, blueprints & procurement documents
  • Ability to read and understand Federal, State, and construction Codes, Standards and regulations
  • Experience with basic PC skills to include Microsoft software
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
  • Exemplary attention to detail
