Lake County is seeking a highly-qualified individual for the position of Human Resources Director.

 

This is a full time position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, short term disability and life insurance; a retirement plan with a generous County contribution and paid time off.

 

The Human Resources Director is a hands-on position directly responsible for carrying out human resources, payroll, and benefits related duties for the County and may perform responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, recruitment/employment, risk management, collective bargaining negotiation and administrating grievance process, and employment law compliance including workplace investigations related to employment discrimination or other matters. Ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll, and enters timesheet data and information concerning employee status changes into computer records. Responsible for transmitting withholding data, and producing summary reports concerning payroll as scheduled or requested. Maintains all files and records related to personnel, payroll, and benefits. Administers group benefits and insurance plans by updating records, and ensuring timely remittances to carriers or agencies. Acts as an assistant to and may act for the County Administrator, as authorized. Supervises and coordinates Administrative Office staff. Performs variety of related office and administrative duties.

 

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Associates Degree or equivalent required with advanced coursework in business administration or Human Resources. Prefer Bachelor’s Degree and advanced coursework in Human Resources, accounting and bookkeeping.

 

Experience: Minimum five years’ experience in a governmental and/or office environment. Preferred seven to eight years’ progressively more responsible experience working independently in a governmental Human Resources and accounting office environment.

 

Any or all of the above may be substituted for commensurate experience and/or education or a combination thereof.

 

Pre-employment drug screen, physical, and criminal background investigation are required.
