About this job

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and/or assist in rebuilding hydraulic and mechanical systems related to plastic injection molding machines.
  • Have the ability, or potential to learn how to ensure a machine is mechanically leveled and aligned prior to operation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, software, and related hydraulic/pneumatic/servo-driven systems using schematics, working instructions, or by conferring with subject matter experts.
  • Calibrate systems to ensure equipment meets the stated performance levels.
  • Maintain open communications with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in all situations.
  • Mentor or guide junior mechanics when working together.
  • Take added responsibility of reporting when the Maintenance Manager is not present for meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics for the purpose of understanding and troubleshooting related systems.
  • Experience working with PLC, plastic mold injection or industrial controllers.
  • Ability to work within a team to accomplish a common goal, in both a lead and supporting role.
  • 10+ years’ experience in plastic injection molding preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build Rapport with a team and work with them and lead them.
  • A desire to teach and train other maintenance personnel.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, use arms and hands to feel or reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on occasion, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may work with materials that could irritate eyes, skin and breathing. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required. The employee will be working near and/or with high-speed automated equipment. This may cause risk of injury if safety procedures are not followed. The work environment is often noisy and hearing protection is required.
