Our client is a fast-growing agricultural equipment manufacturing company operating in the Central Valley Agriculture Industry that is seeking Welders/Fabricators. The Fabrication / Welder position will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment, performs skill manual labor along a fabrication and welding department. This person operates, trouble-shoots and maintains production line machinery and computers. May perform minor repairs as necessary.

Location: Merced, CA.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
2. Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
3. Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
4. Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
5. Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
6. Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered
7. Operate production machinery and welders.
8. Troubleshoot production line machinery.
9. Perform equipment changeovers.
10. Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
11. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
12. Operate forklift to maintain raw material supply for the production line (only if certified).
13. Complete daily production logs.
14. Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on production line machinery, welders & equipment.
15. Communicate with fabricators / welders from other shifts.
16. Clean and maintain work area.
17. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
18. Willing to work overtime both daily and weekends.
19. Able to work both day shift and/or second shift.
20. Must follow OSHA requirements, keeping a clean shaved facial surface around the respirator seal.
21. Other duties as assigned.
22. Performs other related duties as assigned

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work.
2. Perform resupply of inventory for parts and production supermarkets.
3. Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
4. Order materials from other work areas when needed. Maintain material supply adhering to just in time and lean manufacturing principles.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Basic reading, writing in English and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and work boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

1. 30 to 40 percent of the job requires lifting carrying holding and manipulating objects weighting excess of 50 pounds.
2. Able to bend over.
3. Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
4. Able to push and pull.
5. Able to stand on feet for duration of shift.
6. Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work. Especially: skill and ease in using both hands
7. Must be able to see details at close range.
8. Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.

Schedule:

• 8-hours (2 Different Shifts)
• Day shift/Night Shift
• Mon – Sat.

Pay Rate: $18.00- $24.00 per hour (DOE)

• High School or GED equivalent (Preferred)
