We are looking for a Full Time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at our Northeast Addictions Treatment Center in Quincy, MA

The Nurse Practitioner assists the Medical Director with assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Collects and records data in a comprehensive, accurate and systemic manner.
  • Initiating and completing initial History and Physical within 48 hours.
  • Evaluating the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
  • Knowledge of program policies and procedures.
  • Shares pertinent information with team as obtained from patients or family throughout the program.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Director to provide medical care.
  • Providing individual therapy as needed.
  • Documents patient progress/ regress according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assessing patient's need to see a medical doctor weekly.
  • Providing primary care and Medical / Psychiatric Treatment
  • Maintains compliance with established care standards.
  • Instructing patients in medication self-administration, and health education as needed.
  • Reviewing lab results and providing treatment and or referral as needed.
  • Initiate, monitor and manage therapies including pharmacotherapy per protocol as approved by the Medical Director.
  • Evaluate behavioral problems and diagnosis and make treatment recommendations.
  • Ordering consults for other medical specialties as needed and as approved by the Medical Director.
  • Referring difficult cases to the Medical Director for Consult.
  • Providing Medical Director with findings of case reviews and a detailed consult report stating the exact nature of the consult request.
  • Manages time effectively for proper balance between administrative unit responsibilities and nursing responsibilities.
  • Assists in reviewing, revising, and formulating policies and procedures specific to Program, with approval of the Medical Director
  • Assists in evaluating patient care daily by assessing patients as needed.
  • Providing Utilization Review with the detailed information needed for the appropriate level of care of the patient.
  • Ensuring continuity of care through the use of foresight in directing, controlling, planning and organizing patient care.
  • Serving as patient advocate, clinical resource person and role model for nursing personnel.
  • Communicating with family and health professionals concerning the care of patients.
  • Maintain that all notes are in the chart in the appropriate section for review by the Medical Director.
  • As an expert health care provider, the APRN work in tandem with the Medical Director.
  • Address all cares and concerns related with the patient to the treatment team.
  • Ensure that the safety of the client is our priority at all times.
  • Ensure that any client that is in need of urgent psychiatric care that the Baker Act is enforced and that the client is placed in an appropriate facility for such care.
  • Continue to attend regularly scheduled education classes related to the disease of addiction.
  • Keep open dialogue with the Medical Director for optimal client care.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with clients with Substance Use Disorders.

Qualifications:

A minimum of two to five years of Medical and /or Psych experience as an APRN. Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and have a Masters degree in Nursing, which includes clinical training in a health care specialty area.
