Job Description

Performs a wide variety of technical procedures, requiring independent judgment and ingenuity. Requires initiative to apply appropriate skills to facilitate a diagnosis. May be assigned independent responsibilities by Department Director, or Operations Manager. Proper care of the clients per the departmental and hospital policies and procedures is required. May be responsible for assigned areas to assume responsibilities of supervision or instruction to department personnel as determined by the Department Director. Practices infection control and body substance isolation in clinical practice in compliance with departmental and hospital policies and OSHA standards. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Demonstrates proper operation of PACS, HIS and RIS computer systems. Demonstrates ability to operate and troubleshoot PACs applications. Attends annual mandatory education to include blood-borne pathogens, infection control, and body substance isolation. Maintains department competencies as required

Benefits

· Experience:

o NEW GRADS are welcome to apply. Minimum of 3 years experience as an Ultrasonographer is preferred.

o Ability to obtain registry from ARDMS or ARRT within 2 years of employment is strongly recommended

· Education and Training:

o High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have completed the approved Diagnostic Sonography Technology Program. Additional registration and state license as a diagnostic technologist preferred

· License, Certification & Registration:

o CPR certification is required.

o ARDMS - Current registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or registration must be obtained within 2 years of employment.

· Other Requirements:

o Must be proficient in Abdominal, Pelvic, and Obstetrical, DVT studies of arms and legs and obtaining images using portable equipment.

o Must be familiar with sterile technique and set up of sterile trays.

o Ability to function independently and proficiently.

o Must be able to move and lift patients, equipment, and supplies regularly.

o Ability to function in a high-stress, work-intensive environment.

o Ability to stand/walk up to 6 hours per 8-hour shift.

o Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. intermittently throughout shift.

o Ability to lift over 100 lbs. without assistance and/or mechanical aid.

o Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of the position can be fully met.

o Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language understandably.
