POSITION PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sr. Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safety and direction of the maintenance and reliability resources serving the facility. This position is responsible for ensuring all company assets are maintained at or above the assets functional specifications to prolong the effectiveness of the assets and minimize production downtime due to asset breakdown. This role drives maintenance work processes as well as a long-term reliability and lowest cost of maintenance. Direct reports include energetic and non-energetic material maintenance areas.


This position works with engineers and operations team members/leaders to understand their maintenance needs for daily work and shutdowns as well as providing the necessary resources to meet those needs. The Sr. Maintenance Manager plans, organizes, controls, integrates, and evaluates the work of the maintenance team. The position develops and monitors short- and long-term goals and objectives focused on achieving the company's mission and assigned priorities. The position contributes to the development and monitors performance against the department's budgets. The Sr. Maintenance Manager participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, policies, and systems to achieve goals as well as oversees spare parts handling, inventory management and coordinates with reliability-focused personnel to ensure reliability strategy for equipment is executed.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and communities in which we operate as our highest priority.
  • Prepare and administer programs, methods, systems, and practices for reducing costs and improving employee and plant efficiency, safety, productivity, and reliability.
  • Coordinate all maintenance (mechanical, electrical and instrumentation) activities for proper, safe execution of plant turnarounds. Aggressively seek to minimize cost and duration of shut-down activities.
  • Establish and monitor key measures to ensure that a comprehensive and effective maintenance and reliability program is in place and practiced.
  • Direct and manage site maintenance staff to implement best maintenance practices and provide technical expertise to reduce costs and improve process uptime and mechanical reliability.
  • Direct the planning and scheduling program, and its effectiveness, using established benchmarks and parameters.
  • Control maintenance expenditures within budget requirements by monitoring expenditures, adjusting priorities, and forecasting maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate and direct the use of outside resources and contractors assigned to the plant.
  • Coordinate with engineering group for capital project executions to ensure effective use of capital funds.
  • Identify necessary corrective actions, and enter work requests, to ensure equipment and assets are maintained at the highest level throughout the facility.
  • Create capex requirement for maintenance tools / system / spare parts.
  • Coordinate and direct the use of outside maintenance resources and contractors assigned to the plant.
  • Selects, develops, trains, and supervises staff.
  • Create training matrix for all maintenance disciplines to improve their skills and experience.
  • Develops, determines, and implements policies, procedures, maintenance standards together with engineering manager.
  • Work with engineering manager to develops strategy and procedures to ensure sound reliability practices for process equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with process safety management through change management.
  • Implement documentation and maintenance request systems e.g. SAP to get all records managed and report in monthly updates to site manager.
  • Participate in maintenance workshops and trainings or regularly meeting /updates.
  • Develop position description for all direct reports.
  • Reports monthly on reliability status and upcoming programs.
  • Participates in all over all equipment efficiency study's (OEE)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline
  • 10+ years in maintenance

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES


  • Familiarity with chemical manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Process safety management, mechanical Integrity, piping and pressure vessel codes and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Contract handling, understanding terms and contractor risk.
  • High project Management skills.

  • Good English skills verbal and in writing

  • Discretion, independent judgement, and decision-making skills. Must be able to consider costs, benefits, and consequences of actions and use this information to make the best choice.
  • The ability to understand the facility processes and product reactivity.
  • Excellent reading, writing and communication skills. The ability to communicate effectively with members of the team.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work as a team, as well as be able to coach and mentor others.
  • Maintenance experience in the chemical processing industry.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY

  • Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
  • Analytical software
  • Familiarity with an EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) system
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Employee's primary duties will be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to plant general business operations, particularly those in the maintenance department.
  • Employee's time will be split between an office environment and field activities in the plant's processing areas. Activities will involve wearing appropriate PPE, climbing stairs and working at heights, entry in to confined spaces, working in high noise areas, exposure to hot and cold environments, wearing respirators, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly walk around activities on all weather conditions
  • Travel: 10% or less
