Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Department: Quality

Reports To: President

Supervisory Responsibilities: Inspectors and nondestructive examination suppliers

Position Description:

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for maintaining the quality program and implementing the program into company operations. The Quality Control Manager is the prime contact for customers, approving agencies, and inspection agencies concerning the company's quality activities. The Quality Control Manager will communicate quality requirements to the Quality Management Team and provide timely feedback to them concerning conformance of company efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as primary quality contact.
  • Maintains the approved subcontractor status with various agencies.
  • Reviews project quality requirements to ensure company operations will comply.
  • Communicates with the responsible Building Officials to incorporate current jurisdiction requirements.
  • Attends production/quality meetings.
  • Supervises company inspection personnel.
  • Supervises nondestructive testing subcontractors.
  • Fields customer calls and follows up on customer quality concerns.
  • Provides regular audits for management review.
  • Attends annual Quality Management Team meetings to discuss nonconforming operations.

Qualification/Skills:

  • Management experience
  • Communication skills
  • Organization and computer skills
  • Proficiency in mathematics
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Understand quality codes and standards incorporated in metal building fabrication.
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to achieve goals
  • Ability to follow through to resolve quality nonconformance.

Education Requirements

  • Graduation from a two-year technical program or a degree from a four-year college or university program.
  • Five years experience in fabrication and inspection.
  • Two years experience as a supervisor or manager.
  • AWS SCWI or CWI certification.
  • All of these requirements must be met and may not be substituted for one another.

Experience Requirements

Training Requirements

  • This position requires at least two hours of training annually.
  • Training subjects will promote and support the qualifications and skills noted above.
  • Training will incorporate current quality methods and the requirements of IBC, AISC, AWS and SSPC.
