Job Summary:

Sets machinery up to properly fill containers to required weight, ensures caps meet torque specifications, labeling, lot code, packaging, and adjusts as needed to machinery to meet production job requirements. Oversees the staff on the line are meeting production quality and performance measures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads production job specification sheet to ensure the correct components are being used for the job and determines machine adjustments to put in the correct dosage of product.
  • Recommends to supervisor the amount of labor needed to produce the job effectively and efficiently.
  • Able to set up, clean and change over machinery quickly from one product to another.
  • Oversees staff on the line are meeting throughput and quality requirements for the job.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or manufacturing standards.
  • Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine and stop machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions, using rule, manufacturing standard, or other measuring instruments to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace and environment.
  • Communicates with maintenance, Crew Lead and/or Shift Lead on machine problems.
  • Sets up machinery to stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces.
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation without posing a direct threat to the individual or others.
  • Transfer finished products around plant and warehouse using hand truck or pallet jack.
  • Connect pump and hoses to machinery securely to transfer bulk from containment vessel to machine and from tote to barrels or pails when needed.
  • Check the Batch Ticket Bill of Materials/Component Sheet to be sure all parts are accounted for and that they are correct. This includes comparing Item Numbers and Item Description to carton labeling and the individual packaging components.
  • Verify cleanliness of pumps and machinery prior to introducing bulk through review of cleaning logs.
  • Fill out cleaning logs accurately after cleaning has been performed.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Able to communicate with all levels of employees.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Ability to work well under pressure and stay organized.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Experience with Pallet Jacks, tape guns, tape machines, heat guns, labelers.
  • Previous experience with Liquid filling Machines, cappers, conveyors, lot coders & shrink tunnels preferred.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Work in a factory setting.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The physical demands identified above are representative of those that will be required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to work in areas where chemical materials are encountered.
  • Manufacturing setting with moving machinery.
  • Regularly required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • May involve exposure to shop environment including variable noise levels.
  • Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety.
