Job Title: Slitter Operator

Salary: $20 - $25

Summary of Position: The Slitter Operator is responsible for applying metal to customer orders and accurately processing materials according to work order specifications using advanced machinery or demonstrating an advanced level of skill in warehouse machinery operation. The role involves ensuring the safe and clean maintenance of processing equipment, maintaining a clean and orderly processing area, and accurately entering all required information. The Slitter Operator will also perform various tasks as assigned.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Obtain certification in the material handler position.
  2. Set up, operate, and maintain cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  3. Pull, inspect, and verify products before processing.
  4. Set up equipment safely and according to set up note specifications.
  5. Process set up notes in accordance with work order specifications.
  6. Verify product compliance with set up note specifications and record measurements.
  7. Communicate with sales representatives regarding order changes or clarifications.
  8. Provide recommendations to improve manufacturing processes.
  9. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  10. Enter/delete material identification tags as per written instructions.
  11. Balance workload and collaborate with the team as needed.
  12. Conduct general clean-up activities.
  13. Assist in packaging material according to work instructions and work orders.
  14. Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
  15. Operate weighing scales and record inspection measurements.
  16. Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming material.
  17. Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
  18. Perform quality checks during machine operation.
  19. Complete production/productivity logs and reconcile production data.
  20. Complete job responsibilities prioritizing safety.
  21. Train others when required.
  22. Assist in activities related to lean and/or quality.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • 1 to 2 years of machine operation experience.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Use of handheld measuring tools.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metal's industry.
  • Previous forklift experience.
  • Computer literate.
