Columbia Country Club is a private, member-owned club, conveniently located inside the Beltway in idyllic Chevy Chase, MD. Position Summary:

The Market Lead will be responsible for overseeing the staff in the FOH. The expectation is that they provide great hospitality throughout service, work efficiently as a liaison between the FOH & BOH and overall run a smooth shift. The Market Lead should always possess a professional behavior and appearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time for each shift with a positive attitude wearing the appropriate uniform that is given at the beginning of the season.
  • Comply with the club's policies and procedures as established in the employee handbook.
  • Demonstrate professional and friendly hospitality to members by providing great service and greeting them and their guests with a warm Columbia welcome each and every day. Vice versa, thank members and guests as they leave the Club.
  • Follow The Market's operational procedures regarding pre, during and post shift side work duties to ensure your station is set up for success.
  • Maintain active communication between the front of house and back of house operations.
  • Support the Kitchen Expo station by directing the BOH as needed based on the orders coming in from the FOH. All FOH communication to the Kitchen staff should come directly from the Market Lead.
  • Be capable of preparing a variety of food and beverage items by following our specifications on portion, presentation, and recipes.
  • Exercise knowledge of proper food safety and report any loss of food items by notifying the Kitchen Management Staff.
  • Strictly follow all sanitation-related requirements and organization of The Market. The Manager is responsible for overseeing the personnel in all stations and ensuring they are meeting this requirement.
  • Handle member/guest complaints by listening to the problem from the member and providing a solution to the issue. Involve the Market Manager if the issue escalates.
  • Utilize our HR system Paycom to perform employee self-guided tasks related to work schedules and pay information.
  • Exercise clear and efficient communication with the team to ensure a smooth shift.
  • Attends any pre-shift meetings called by supervisors or management.
  • Maintain awareness of standards regarding dining surroundings and develop same within staff.
  • Completion of management projects as assigned by the Clubhouse Manager and/or the General Manager.
  • Completes other appropriate work assignments as requested by The Market Manager.

Position Qualifications and Functional Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must be 21 years of age and successfully pass a background check.
  • Has one year experience with BOH of FOH operations.
  • Able to manage a fast pace working environment.
  • Able to handle the sun for extended periods of time.
  • Must have excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Capable of meeting the physical demands and responsibilities of the position including prolonged periods of standing and quick movement around the work area. Should be able to periodically lift/move items or objects up to 20-35 pounds.
