Noir Kitchen & Cocktails in Nashville, TN is looking for one 3rd shift prep cook to join our team. We are located on 501 Main St.. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and engaged.


Responsibilities

  1. Food Preparation: Prepare and portion ingredients for use in menu items, following standardized recipes and portion sizes. This includes chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and preparing sauces and dressings.
  2. Organization: Set up and organize workstations with all necessary ingredients, utensils, and equipment for efficient food preparation during the next day's service.
  3. Inventory Management: Assist in inventory management by restocking ingredients and supplies as needed, rotating stock to minimize waste, and notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages or discrepancies.
  4. Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the prep area, including washing and sanitizing utensils, equipment, and work surfaces. Adhere to food safety regulations to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety.
  5. Quality Control: Inspect ingredients for freshness and quality, discarding any items that do not meet standards. Ensure that prepared ingredients meet the restaurant's quality standards and are properly stored for use in menu items.
  6. Communication: Communicate effectively with the kitchen manager, chefs, and other kitchen staff to coordinate tasks, relay important information, and ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
  7. Adherence to Procedures: Follow standard operating procedures for food preparation, storage, and handling to maintain consistency and quality in menu items. Adhere to portion control guidelines to minimize food waste and maximize profitability.


Qualifications

  1. Experience: Previous experience working as a prep cook or in a similar food preparation role, preferably with experience working overnight or late-night shifts.
  2. Culinary Skills: Basic culinary skills with knowledge of food preparation techniques, knife skills, and kitchen equipment operation.
  3. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes accurately, portion ingredients correctly, and maintain consistency in food preparation.
  4. Organization: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Team Player: Ability to work well as part of a team, collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure that all tasks are completed on time and to the restaurant's standards.
  6. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a kitchen environment.
  7. Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure, especially during busy late-night shifts.
  8. Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of food safety principles and practices, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
