A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PART-TIME ACTIVITIES AIDE

In this Activities Aide position, you plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct activity programs for our assisted living residents and their families. You work to assure that their spiritual, emotional, recreational, and social needs are met and maintained. With attention to detail and productivity, you also coordinate community groups to provide organized and safe experiences for everyone. Your experience helps you as you seek to provide recreational therapy and other services. You communicate those opportunities to our residents in a variety of ways. You assess individual needs and ensure that activities are provided that will meet those needs. You are effective at communicating needs with occupational therapists and other staff members to ensure support.

Scheduling outings for our residents is another part of what you do. You serve as a bus driver for outings and ensure that the bus is kept clean and maintained. As you stay aware of community events in the area, you communicate to those in your care about these additional options to be involved in the community.

Using your self-motivation and leadership skills, you develop and chair an activity committee. This committee is composed of residents, staff, volunteers, and families that will plan daily, weekly, and seasonal events. You are dedicated to recruiting for and maintaining the volunteer program. You are also conscientious about maintaining confidentiality at all times. At the end of the day, you feel accomplished knowing you have such a positive impact on our residents and their families!


QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ACTIVITIES AIDE

  • One year of experience in long-term care preferred, but will train the right candidate.
  • Ability to obtain a valid Oregon food handlers card.
  • Heart for working with seniors.

One year of experience in a social or recreational therapy program, but will train the right person. Are you reliable, punctual, organized, and able to effectively prioritize tasks?
