Job Description
Performs activities relating to day-to-day operation and maintenance, including painting and repair of the building, grounds, equipment utility, and support systems of the hospital. The Maintenance Technician performs relatively general duties and tasks to help maintain a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors who frequent PGH. This position affords the opportunity for growth and development of skills in the maintenance field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs as a team member and is committed to co-workers.
2. Presents a professional and positive image in appearance and communication.
3. Is dependable in meeting assigned work schedule and completing responsibilities of role.
4. Adheres to department, hospital, and personnel policies.
5. Demonstrates resource management skills to ensure cost containment.
6. Ensures that a safe environment is provided at all times.
7. Services and maintains the buildings, equipment, alarm systems, grounds and building support systems to ensure that the maximum time of service.
8. Follows infection control guidelines and supervises Environment of Care [safety] meetings.
9. Knowledge of the use and care of commonly used equipment and tools.
10. Performs general maintenance duties and minor level repair-work on a variety of systems: plumbing electrical, heating, air conditioning, facilities, and equipment.
11. Maintains grounds: cuts grass, edges, trimming, etc.
12. Must be available off-shift and weekends for emergency situation calls via the schedule.
13. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
2. Experience: Preferred, not required
3. Valid Georgia driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires walking, standing, sitting to a significant degree, lifting large and small objects by weight and bulk, climbing, and digging. Able to think fast in emergency situations, remain calm in tense situations, analyze problem situations, draw conclusions, and develop plan of attack for problem solving. Ability to read and understand operations and installation manuals. Requires properly lifting equipment up to 80 lbs.
