How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Wabtec Bus Solutions/Vapor Bus International group/division, you will be responsible for - Approving incoming materials; conducting visual and measurement tests; and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. Documentation of inspection results; Keeping measurement equipment operating. Working with manufacturing, engineering, and production workers to ensure quality of the products prior to shipping.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Technical school education with 3 years of related experience and/or training as CMM Operator / Inspector; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge in Excel, Word, Quality Audits and Oracle is a Plus
  • Documented training with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and other appropriate measuring devices (PC-DMIS, Polyworks, Qxsoft,etc), vision system programming.
  • Proficient in the use of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and other appropriate measuring devices (PC-DMIS, Polyworks, Qxsoft,etc), vision system programming. Proficient in reading blueprints, and in using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) understanding. Proficient in using measuring equipment and instruments such as : calipers, vernier, micrometer, height gages, etc.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Performs layout inspections of parts, assemblies, inspection fixtures and gages with the use of Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and other appropriate measuring devices.
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
  • Document’s inspection results by completing inspection reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
