Job Description
As a Treating Plant Specialist-Quality Control at Robbins Manufacturing, you will play a vital role in supporting our production teams. Your primary responsibilities include the daily operations of critical functions within the company. Specialists require a high level of training to deliver against financial and regulatory (compliance) standards. We value precision, attention to detail, cooperation, organization, and the utmost commitment to quality.
*On the job training will be provided as needed.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- · Tests wood borings, using laboratory equipment, to verify specified treating solution and moisture content, retention of preservative, and depth of penetration and concentration of salt.
- · Sends samples to independent lab for evaluation of treated material retention
- · Performs minor equipment repair and adjustments.
- · Enforces safety regulations.
- · Completes environmental logs and reporting requirements.
- · Attends annual environmental training (inclusive of hazardous waste training).
- · Recommends measures needed if the tested samples are out of specification to ensure the quality of product.
- · May assist in the training of new workers.
- · May set up machines and equipment.
- · Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- · Knowledge of the lumber industry, wood products, and chemical treatment process.
- · OSHA requirements for the lumber industry and associated chemical treatment safety hazards.
Success Factors:
- · Organized and detail oriented, problem-solver focused on quality and efficiency.
- · Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- · Must be able to work as a member of the team and support all levels of employees and management.
Physical Requirements:
- · Must be able to withstand temperatures that can range in excess of 98 degrees in the summer and below 40 degrees in the winter.
- · Must be able to stand and/or walk for long-periods of time.
- · Must be able to lift in excess of 50lbs.
- · Be able to operate a forklift and Treating Plant equipment.
