Job Title: Outside Plant Construction - Laborer

Reports To: OSP Project Manager

Job Summary:

The Outside Plant Construction – Laborer will be the individual responsible for helping to construct Highline’s Fiber Network in and around the Escanaba, MI area.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work in outdoor utility construction sites.
• Work as part of a crew that supports all phases of outside plant construction for various fiber-to-the-home projects.
• Excavate, trench, and install fiber optic cable and all other necessary facilities.
• Dig trenches/holes with a shovel.
• Gather and store tools, maintain equipment and safe work zone.
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field.
• Learn and train to use various kinds of tools and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

• Willingness to learn, adhere to, and comply with Highline safety standards.
• Willingness to learn the telecommunications construction trade; including but not limited to Fiber Splicing, and Directional Drilling.
• Demonstrated track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
• Ability to solve difficult technical problems.
• Thrives in a hands-on, manual labor work environment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings (Drug and Background) including Random Quarterly testing.
