SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Staff Nurse, RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to a designated group of patients. The nurse will establish goals and priorities of nursing care. The nurse will develop a written plan of nursing care which includes patient education and discharge planning. The staff nurse will be responsible for documentation of care given with patient progress. The RN will work collaboratively with the medical staff in matters of patient care.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION FOR NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE:
This is the only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in central Pennsylvania. It is a 56-hybrid bed unit where nurses provide critical care to premature infants. Nurses care for patients requiring different modes of ventilation support, including the use of high frequency ventilation, Bubble CPAP, Non-invasive support and nitric oxide therapy. Additional training includes becoming an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) nurse and high-risk delivery room nurse.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
- AHA BLS prior to end of orientation period
- At least 1 year of NICU, PEDS, Women's and/or L&D experience
