Machinist

We are a small business currently looking for a highly skilled Machinist with a passion for precision. The role will produce and repair precision parts using manual and automated equipment. A talented machinist needs to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. They must have knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as a respect for safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output
\n
• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job 
\n
• Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
\n
• Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job
\n
• Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues
\n
• Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
\n
• Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
\n

Skills

\n
• Minimum 5 years of experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.) 
\n
• Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements
\n
• Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
\n
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
\n
• Good at math with analytical abilities
\n
• Strong interpersonal skills to work seamlessly with others, sharing ideas and coordinating efforts to achieve optimal results during the manufacturing process
