The Technician serves as part of the healthcare team at Novant Health and collaborates with other team members to provide optimal care. The Technician accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions • Basic duties include but are not limited to: • Filling and delivering medication orders for all age groups under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. • Answering and screening telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate. • Processing cart fills, refills to automated dispensing machines and replenishments to emergency kits and carts. • Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software. • Basic duties in the specialty pharmacy setting include but are not limited to: • Filling specialty prescriptions under direct supervision of a pharmacist. • Answering and screening telephone calls and referring calls to a pharmacist when appropriate. • Using point-of-sale to support customer service needs. • Utilizing appropriate supplies including ice packs as appropriate to support shipping specialty medications. • Demonstrating proficiency with equipment and software. • Patient Care: Facilitates the accurate and timely distribution of medications. Demonstrates proficiency with equipment and software. Effectively communicates with patients, caregivers, team members and third parties to ensure optimal medication management. • Teamwork and Communication: Identifies opportunities to improve processes. Collaborates with team members to achieve desired outcomes. Maintains environment that supports and respects diversity and inclusion to promote creative problem solving. Demonstrates the courage to practice with a questioning attitude. Trains, mentors, and assists in the orientation of new team members. • Compliance and Organizational Alignment: Supports Novant Health policies, system-wide department initiatives, regulatory and accreditation standards, and quality/process improvement efforts. Successfully completes (in required time frames) education and annual competency requirements to support training, accreditation and licensure. • Quality and Standards of Excellence: Each pharmacy team member is expected to perform in a manner that supports the Novant Health Pharmacy strategic statement: "Novant Health Pharmacy Services consists of team-based care providers who are dedicated to making access to medications convenient and affordable, with personalized medication management services to optimize health". Team members are expected to uphold the First Do No Harm (FDNH) safety behaviors.

Education: High School or GED required. 2 Year / Associate Degree preferred. Experience: prior healthcare experience preferred Refer to the Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096. Licensure/Certification: Registry with applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire upon completion of pharmacy training program as specified by NH required. Additional Skills/Requirements (required) • Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills (including ratio and proportion relationships), strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outline in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
