SUMMARY OF ROLE

Weld engineer will oversee all manual (TIG & MIG) and robot (Motoman, ABB & Fanuc) welding to insure proper technique and weld integrity for standard metals (stainless steel, mild steel & aluminum).


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Design, develop, and specify all welding processes and techniques for new product launches.
  • Conduct R&D in welding and joining process development, including MIG, TIG, Plasma, Laser, Brazing, etc. or other processes to ensure state of the art practices and applications.
  • Resolve welding problems on current production, to improve safety, quality and productivity.
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement of welding operations for quality and productivity.
  • Develop weld parameter tracking by application, and ensure control to maintain integrity.
  • Assist production employees in develop welding program including but not limited to processes and techniques.
  • Support and review welding processes and procedures including developing weld process sheets.
  • Exposure to APQP, PFMEA & other quality processes.
  • Work with manufacturing team on continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop, and train hourly robot techs on all shifts.
  • Adhere to all company policies
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified welder with manual weld experience (MIG & TIG) in manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years of robotic welding experience in the automotive sector.
  • 5 years of experience programming and diagnosing, Motoman, ABB and Fanuc weld robots.
  • Experience training and developing Robot Technicians is preferred.
