Position: Technician apprentice
Department: Transportation GCW

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Transit Mechanic and Transportation management, successful team member will assist in the maintenance and service of Transit buses and other assigned vehicles. Team member will assist in the diagnosis and repair including general upkeep of vehicles. When necessary, team member will be required to maintain exterior and interior sanitizing and cleanliness of fleet.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the diagnostics and detect mechanical faults in transit vehicles.
2. Knowledge of machines and tools; including uses and benefits.
3. Repair and maintenance Fleet vehicles as necessary.
4. Maintain and transport vehicles, equipment and supplies to and from work area daily to various locations.
5. Assist in the inspection and examination of transportation fleet verifying that vehicles are clean, safe, and fully operational.
6. Perform routine preventative maintenance, including the handling of washing equipment.
7. Performing physical activities requires moving, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, and use of arms and legs.
8. Communicate with drivers, supervisors, and other management personal.
  1. Position requires physical effort such as walking, lifting (up to 75 pounds), standing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, assisting customers, securing wheelchairs and other mobility devices


Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be willing to learn diagnostic methods, detecting mechanical faults manually, visually, or by use of computer.
Must possess and/or identify necessary hand tools and equipment needed to accomplish required tasks.
Must have and maintain excellent attendance record.
Must be able to when necessary work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must have diagnostic and problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly.
Must be able to quickly identify mechanical issues and have the ability to anticipate such issues.
Must maintain a positive and professional work environment.



Qualifications:
1. Must possess a valid Drivers license and clean driving record.
2. Be able to acquire within 18 months, valid Arizona commercial drivers license (Class B) with passenger.
3. High school diploma or GED
4. This position requires proof of COVID-19 Vaccination.
