JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the cooking responsibilities of the Blue Foot Deli. It is under general direction of the Executive Chef and the primary function is to prepare food while providing excellent guest service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts preparation, apportionment, cooking, and presentation of food orders for customers; including wrapping or packing prepared food items.
  • Safely operates all kitchen equipment including, but not limited to a grill, fryer, espresso machine, coffee machine, slicer, and soda dispenser.
  • Serves cold drinks, frozen milk drinks, or desserts.
  • Makes and serves hot beverages.
  • Presses lids onto beverages and places beverages on serving tray or in takeout container.
  • Maintains sanitary and orderly eating or serving areas.
  • Maintains the deli case in a clean and visually pleasing fashion.
  • Cuts delicatessen meats and cheeses to specification with slicing machine, knives, or other cutters for presentation.
  • Weighs and wraps sliced foods and affixes sticker showing price and weight.
  • Maintain, at all times, a courteous, tactful relationship with our customers.
  • Maintain, at all times, a clean and welcoming environment for our customers to see, including the dining areas.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all Team Members.
  • Familiar with vendors and purchasing process.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports as prescribed such as daily sales and inventory reports.
  • Identify inventory items that need to be purchased by the Executive Chef or designee(s).
  • Learn policies, rules & regulations and apply them using fairness and good judgment.
  • Carry out verbal and written instructions from management and follow-through in the completion of all assignments.
  • Identify problems and propose solutions to management.
  • Protect the assets of the Blue Lake Casino & Hotel.
  • Other duties as assigned by management, including any supervisor, manager, or executive.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

SPECIFIC SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Knowledge of food handling/food safety procedures (i.e. HACCP).
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment including slicer, fryer, grill, soda dispenser, shake machine, coffee machine and other kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge and ability to prepare cold and hot foods for consumption including presentation.
  • Ability to relate with guests and staff; maintain a positive attitude and sense of humor at all times. Excellent interpersonal skills in relating with guests and staff.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

While employed, must maintain a valid and active Blue Lake Tribal Gaming Commission License.

Must complete RBS (Responsible Beverage Server training) training for serving alcohol responsibly within three months of being employed and maintain a valid certificate while employed thereafter.

Must complete a chosen food handling and safety course within three months of being employed and maintain valid certification while employed thereafter.
