Job Title: Communications & Grant Manager

Department: Marketing and Advancement

Salary: $50,000

Schedule: 40 hours/week, some evenings, weekends and holidays during the summer, flexible schedule

Reports To: Senior Marketing Director

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Director, the Grant and Communications Manager is responsible for researching, prospecting and coordinating all efforts with grants, and writing marketing and communications content for digital and print. This individual leads the effort at the e-communications set up, website updates and works closely with the Graphic Design and Digital Media Coordinator. In addition, this manager will help with events and gatherings. The environment in which this individual will work is fast paced, highly collaborative and focused on teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (To include other duties that may be assigned.)

  • Write online and print Lakesider content, social posts, Advancement newsletter content, fundraising appeals and e-news articles.
  • Assist Senior Director of Marketing and Advancement & Stewardship Manager with media strategy including writing press releases and stories for media.
  • Works directly with Travel Influencers organizing their visit.
  • Oversee the development and coordination of an organization-wide master calendar including attending event meetings and meeting with programming and other departments to ensure accurate outbound marketing and communications about organization events.
  • Oversee the email marketing strategy and work with the Graphic Design & Digital Media Coordinator to create and send e-newsletters.
  • Assist with generosity events and gatherings.
  • Assist with website updates including pages, calendar and news articles.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives including writing, creating content and other outbound communications with donors.
  • Researches and finds potential grant opportunities.
  • Prepares grant proposals by conducting research, gathering internal and external data to support grants requests, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
  • Fulfills requirements requested by funding entities to be considered for grants.
  • Meets proposal deadlines by determining priorities and target dates for information gathering, drafting, editing, revising, and submitting proposals.
  • Creates and updates the grants development calendar.
  • Works with key staff members to identify funding needs.
  • Maintains records related to grant proposals between potential funders.
  • Be the liaison to the Chautauqua Trail network and manage the Chautauqua Trail website.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism or related field required.

Skill Requirements:

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
