Fondomonte California is currently seeking a Hay Press/Plant Manager to join our Calipatria, California team. This position will collaborate with the Operations Manager in the management and operations of the plant/hay press. 

Starting salary range $100,000 - $120,000 plus bonus potential DOQ. Company vehicle and a full benefits package provided. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Management of and accountability for the full operations of the site/plant encompassing all operations not limited to the Hay pressing operations.
  • Ensuring the quality of Alfalfa hay and other Hays processed are to the highest standard attainable to meet all customers’ requirements and demands.
  • Maximizing productivity and minimizing wastage of resources placed in individual's control not limited to the management of all labor resources and inputs to production.
  • Management of the Efficient and safe use off all company assets and equipment fleet as part of the hay pressing operation. Effective management of maintenance programs for the preventative and reactive maintenance needs to the operation.
  • Ensuring the quality of all Alfalfa hay and other forages is received and handled to the necessary specifications.
  • Ensuring the accurate and safe storage of hay stocks on site responsibly and in line with all policies and procedures of such. Constantly look for areas of improvement, cost control and greater efficiency in all aspect of the plant/ location accountable.
  • Implementation and management of SOP’s, standards, and protocols for the successful operation of the business. Constant and ongoing reinforcement and auditing of such to ensure operational controls are maintained consistently.
  • Management of all employees and headcounts for operations accountable within agreed budgeted parameters. Approved recruitment of staff in consultation with Operations Manager. Development and mentoring of staff to provide a robust and structured succession plan for all key positions within the operation.
  • To prepare in conjunction with his assistants and supervisors a capital and revenue budget for the coming year for approval of Operations Manager.
  • Monitor the performance of the site under individuals control achieving their financial and physical production budgets, taking corrective action in situations where there are deviations.
  • To supervise and ensure implementation of company policies in all operations under individuals’ control.   
  • Ensure that Company health and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure security of equipment and resources is managed at all times to mitigate against exposure and thus risk to company.
  • Ensure all onsite HR matters are handled diligently in line with policies, procedures as directed by the HR department and or as outlined in the applicable Employee handbook.
  • Ensure all perceived risks to the business are outlined with senior management and management of such in coordination of the superior Operations Manager. 
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times both in and out of work.
  • Be available to respond to emergency situations on site at all times outside of approved vacations where adequate cover is deputizing.
  • Ensure the location and all associated operations are managed within the defined limits of the operating CUP (conditional use permit).
  • Achieving agreed KPI’s.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) Desired
  • 3 years’ experience in a management position within agriculture
  • Strong knowledge of running pressing facility
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Great leadership skills
  • Team player with a high level of self-initiative
  • Great listening, communication, and verbal skills
  • Capable of working under pressure
  • Display positive and professional attitude toward peers, employees and leadership team
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Microsoft Office
  • Time management and ability to prioritize task given
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include, but not limited to, early AM/PM, nights and weekends and hours that could fluctuate day-to-day
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions required

  • Ability to lift 40+lbs and work in the field, an outdoor environment, or office.
